Andrès Garcìa has been working as a professional musician since 1992, composing for theater, contemporary dance, film and for other musicians and artists in contemporary art. He plays electronic music live, using a lap top, keyboards and other electronic equipment.
Andrès has participated in different musical projects and bands, in a diverse range of genres, including jazz, rock, pop and latin music.
In 1992 he founded the group I Mericani, a subversive melting pot of musical styles. With I Mericani, Andrès toured extensively throughout Europe and Canada until 2003 and produced 4 albums and an EP.
During those years he also played as guest musician in the following bands :
Somatic (D&B), Juliki (Russian Rock), The Munch (Funk), In Entropia (Electro-Jazz), Jeroboam (Tech-House), Love Motel (Electro-Pop).
In the past three years, Andrès has turned increasingly to composing and producing electronic music, for Steve Buchanan, Knut, Synchrovision, Imploz, Mental Groove, Toys for Boys.
Andrès has worked in collaboration with Philippe Quenum, to produce EPs including “Sodium & Podium” (Toys for Boys). He has worked also with Paris the Black Fu to produce the AG/BG project (logistic records), and with Lee Van Dowski on the “Invisible EP” (num records).
Andrès is working on the John Keys project currently, with Dandy Jack (out now on Crosstown Rebels EP “Who is afraid of Virginia Tsedong”).
In theater, Andrès has worked with Omar Porras (Teatro Malandro), Oskar Gomez Mata (L’Alakran), Brigitte Jacques (Pandora) and Pierre Mifsud, among others.
Andrès has composed pieces for contemporary dance companies, including Alias (Guilherme Botelho), Kylie Walters, Marcela San Pedro, and Yann Marrusich.
For cinema, Andrès has composed music for Contrecoup by Pascal Magnin, Bande annonce and La mort de Ludovic by Pascal Gavillet, and he has also played in the Chroniques by Pierre Maillard, next to Hanna Shygulla. His most recent work includes De ce monde (Frédéric Landenberg) and Fragile (Laurent Nègre).
Andrès has participated in the contemporary art installations of Marìa C. Hernàndez, Freddy Porras and David Flòrez.
